About

Danielle Mirliss…

Instructional Designer
I have been an instructional designer for the past five years.  During my first year I worked for the Distance Learning Project at Columbia University designing online courses and tutorials.  The past four years have been spent designing various learning spaces (online, mixed-mode, enhanced) for Seton Hall University.  Other responsibilities include assessment of various technology projects/initiatives.  My current title is Interim Associate Director of the Teaching Learning and Technology Center - before becoming Interim my title was Senior Instructional Designer.  As you can tell by my blog my recent interest is in virtual worlds.

Adjunct Professor
I have taught a number of courses online and face-to-face.  My first online teaching position was for Teachers College, Columbia University.  I co-facilitated Computer Mediated Communication as well as Staff Training and Development - both graduate level courses.  In addition, my online teaching experience includes assignments for the University of Phoenix, specifically facilitating courses in Multiculturalism and Critical Thinking.  My current teaching assignment (I downsized to be able to finish my dissertation) is an undergraduate face-to-face course - Industrial and Organizational Psychology.  This is my second semester teaching this course and the History of I/O Psych and Research Methods chapters are the toughest to teach (feel like I am boring them to tears *smile*).

Doctoral Student
I am currently in the final stages of my doctoral program at Teachers College, Columbia University.  My program of study is Instructional Technology and Media in which I have already completed a Ed.M..  Before attending TC I completed a M.A. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from New York University.  It was my interest in pursuing a career in eLearning that I decided to complete a second masters at TC.

Consultant/Speaker
Various outside groups have commissioned my services for faculty development workshops and creation of online and mixed-mode (hybrid) courses.  Rates are available upon request.
